About had a small error re-paste: To showcase the rich culture and food of my native country, Sri Lanka, I jumped at the chance to develop a cookbook for this project that combines contemporary graphic design with my background. Concerning the use of cutting-edge graphic design in cookbooks, there was a gap in the media's portrayal of Sri Lanka that I wanted to close with this project. With the word "island" emphasizing Sri Lanka's tropical and isolated location and the word "spice" representing the colorful and culturally diverse food offered, the cookbook's title perfectly captures its character. To establish the tone for the reader's exploration of Sri Lankan culinary traditions, the cover palette, which consists of pastel browns, oranges, blues, and beiges, was carefully chosen to evoke cleanliness, culture, and a feeling of tropical warmth. The typography of "Island Spice" tends to employ sans serif fonts in a range of weights, giving the book's layout a touch of contemporary professionalism. This decision strikes a balance between modern aesthetics and cultural nuance, contrasting and enhancing the traditional elements of the material. The cookbook is completed with images that encapsulate the spirit of Sri Lankan culture, vibrant photos of the food, and graphics that represent arches that are modeled after the nation's well-known temples. These components are intended to be straightforward yet stylish, captivating readers and bringing them into the world of Sri Lankan food via a contemporary yet stylish lens.
